Notice of Race
OPEN DUTCH CHAMPIONSHIP
WINDSURFING WAVE 2014
Organised by Watersport Vereniging Zandvoort
in conjunction with the Nederlandse Vereniging van Wedstrijdsurfers
and Royal Netherlands Sailing Association
1. VENUE
1.1. The Dutch Open Championships 2014 in the windsurfing disciplines Wave will be held on the following dates and locations in the Netherlands.

2. RULES
2.1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) including Appendix B
2.2. “The Rules for Championships Sailing, Windsurfing and Kiteboarding”, will apply.
2.3. If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.
3. ADVERTISING
3.1. Sailors may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority.
3.2. Event branding shall be worn at all times when afloat, and as requested by the organisers during media interviews and during the prize giving.
4. CLASSES AND DIVISIONS
4.1. The Open Dutch Championship is open for the following classes and divisions:
- Men,
- Women
- Youth (born in 1995 or later))
4.2. A minimum of 8 competitors are required to constitute a division or subdivision.
5. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
5.1. The following shall be presented upon registration:
- Evidence of valid third party insurance
- Proof of age
- Racing licence
5.2. Competitors shall register on every location by completing an official registration form.
6. FEES
6.1. The entree fee will be:
- Senior and Master members of the NVW € 15,00 per weekend
- Youth and Junior members of the NVW € 10,00 per weekend
- Senior and Masters not a member of the NVW € 20,00 per weekend
- Youth and Junior not a member of the NVW € 15,00 per weekend
7. RACE FORMAT
7.1. The race format will be Wave.
7.2. Men, women and youth may race together.
7.3. Competitors shall race a maximum 3 eliminations per day

8. SCHEDULE
8.1. The opening hours of the registration office is 08.30 till 09.30 hr CET.
8.2. Skippers meeting is at 09.45 hr CET.
8.3. The first possible race heat start will be at 10.15 hr CET.
9. EQUIPMENT & EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
9.1. It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure that his/her equipment is according to the class rules
9.2. Equipment inspections may be made at any time during the event.
9.3. Unless otherwise directed by the organising authority, boards and equipment shall be launched and retrieved from the designated area at the event site
10. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
10.1.The sailing instructions will be available at the registration office at time of registration.
11. SCORING
11.1.The low point scoring system of RRS B10-A3.
11.2.All competitors who did not start or finish, but are registered for the race shall score DNS. All competitors who are not registered for the race shall score DNC. This modifies RRS Rule A11.
11.3.To constitute a championship it is required to complete one elimination including the finals and semi-finals.
11.4.An elimination which under the IFCA Championship Rules cannot be finished at the end of a (long) weekend will be cancelled.
12. JUDGING
12.1.Judging of the competitors is based on:
12.2.There will be an independent Jury and Head Judge approved by the NVW.
13. PRIZES
13.1.Winners of the overall scoring in the divisions “Men”, “Youth” and “Women” will be awarded “Dutch Champion Wave 2014”, provided the division “women” and “youth” have eight or more competitors, and “men” has sixteen or more competitors. They will receive the “Watersportverbond blue pennant” and a medal.
13.2.For each class and division prizes are available for:
- First competitor when 1 – 4 competitors in the division
- First two competitors when 5 – 7 competitors in the division
- First three competitors when 8 or more competitors in the division.
14. OFFICIAL CEREMONIES
14.1.Competitors are requested to attend the event’s social functions; however, the organising authority may refuse entry to those whose standard of attire is not commensurate with the occasion. Prize winners may forfeit prizes for nonattendance at the prize giving ceremony.
15. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
15.1.Competitors participate in the event entirely at their own risk, see RRS 4 – Decision to Race. The organising authority or any of their officials or representatives or the sponsors or their officials or representatives will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the event.
16. INSURANCE
16.1.Each participating competitor/support boat driver shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 1,000,000 euro per event or the equivalent.
17. RIGHTS RO USE NAME AND LIKENESS
17.1.In participating with this championship, a competitor automatically grants the Organising Authority and the sponsor of the Event, the right in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures, live and still pictures, tapes or films for television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the competition in which the competitor participates and all material related to the event without compensation
